Common Walnut
In the garden of No:6 is a large Common Walnut which has pale grey bark. The leaves are made up of dark yellow-green leaflets, which are orange-brown when they first appear in May. Research shows that eating Walnuts can help lower cholesterol levels. The ancient Romans mixed Walnut husks with oil, ashes, lead and earthworms to make a hair dye.
