This exhibition, entitled LOOSELY BOUND, is a playful take on the subject of books and printed matter. Members of the Printmakers Council will be showing work related to this rich theme. The prints are varied; they may focus on text and writing or they could relate to stories and illustration. Exhibits include complex multi-layered works, small scrolls and pages from artists’ books.

Historical Association - D’Annunzio – Mussolini’s Poet Laureate

Venue: Fellowship House, 136A Willifield Way, NW11 6YD. The speaker, Lucy Hughes-Hallet, was awarded the Samuel Johnson non-fiction prize for her book “The Pike: Gabriele d'Annunzio, Poet, Seducer and Preacher of War”. D’Annunzio - a legendary womaniser and Italian poet - was also a man of action. He was instrumental in getting Italy into the First World War and after the war led the quasi-independent town of Fiume for more than a year. In summary, he was a poet but also a war-mongering and womanising ultra-Nationalist. Lucy’s other published works include “Cleopatra” (1990) and “Heroes, Saviours, Traitors and Supermen” (2004). All lectures are followed by free refreshments. Visitors are welcome £3.00, members of Fellowship House £1.00. There is no difficulty parking.
