On the corner of Erskine Hill and Asmuns Hill there is a Hornbeam. The leaves are similar to Beech, but in summer the tree produces clusters of about eight pairs of nutlets surrounded by leaf-like husks, quite unlike the prickly masts seen on Beeches. |
