LJCC - Know Before You Go: Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs with Joshua White

  • Monday 28 April 2014 from 10am to 12pm
at Ivy House .
£20 in advance, £25 on the door
Exhibiting 120 'cut-outs', many curated together for the first time, this major new exhibition at Tate Modern and later travelling to MOMA in New York demonstrates how Matisse began ‘cutting into colour’ with scissors after becoming infirm towards the end of his life. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see these exuberant, almost sculptural works made from brightly coloured papers, and which have been described as environments rather than paintings.'

Joshua White is director of Christie’s Education’s London Art Course: Modern and Contemporary and the Christie's Collecting Course. He is a critic for Flash Art magazine and also a lecturer at the Tate Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. Joshua has extensive experience of public speaking on art and visual culture.'
