Whitebeam flowers
|
On either side of the road near No:157 Hampstead Way is a group of four Whitebeams which are part of the original street planting dating to 1913. These trees have large leaves with a downy white underside. They have scented white flowers in May, and edible scarlet berries in autumn. Whitebeams were planted as boundary markers by the Anglo-Saxons.
