Almond blossom
Turn left into Asmuns Hill.
Asmuns Hill was originally planted with a double avenue of Almonds: two rows of trees on either side of the road. In the early 1920s the trees were regularly beaten with sticks and umbrellas to make the fruit fall. Only one tree remains, outside No:18. The unripe fruits look like small green peaches but, in autumn, the pavement is littered with the familiar nut shells.
