Hampstead Garden Suburb Horticultural Society is a voluntary organisation open to all residents and those who live nearby, with an elected Committee meeting monthly. An Annual General Meeting is held in November. The Society is affiliated to:

Hampstead Garden Suburb Horticultural Society was founded on 20th May 1909, as the first society to be started by Dame Henrietta Barnett and early residents. We normally hold two Flower Shows a year (June and September), but this year there will be an extra Spring Flower Exhibition to cheer us all up in April. We organise a variety of events throughout the year to cater for all levels of gardening interest and horticultural expertise. Full details can be found in the events pages, in the members' handbook and a newsletter is published four times a year.

New members are always welcome. Click here to discover more about the benefits of membership or to join.

Our flower shows in June and September make a welcome return to the Free Church Hall (see events page for full details). There will be a Scarecrow Competition at the June Show and Grimsdyke Brass band will make a welcome return at the September Show. This year our three-day coach trip will visit gardens en route to and in the Cotswolds, with other visits to RHS Wisley and many other activities.

Nikolaus Pevsner described Hampstead Garden Suburb as "the most nearly perfect example of that English invention and speciality, the garden." A highlight for 2022 will be Suburb in Bloom, when several Suburb gardens and an allotment will be open to visitors in aid of two charities Combat Stress and The North London Hospice (see events page). Most of the garden owners are recipients of London Gardens Society awards.
