Both artists are inspired by the layering and erosion processes of landscape. Using oil paint, wax and dry pigments, Lorna creates worlds of mark and texture, built-up and removed, embodying their history. Alison uses imprints of objects in her paintings and likens the layered effects to memory and loss.

Damien Hirst, first broke into the art world in 1988 when he conceived and curated the ‘Freeze’ exhibition which showed his artworks and that of his fellow Goldsmiths College art students. He has subsequently gone from making iconic sculptures of pickled animals in formaldehyde to having his assistants paint his paintings for him and, managed to survive the financial crash when the whole world went bankrupt around him.
