Join our award-winning guide Stephen Burstin on a stroll through the narrow alleyways and backstreets of these famous districts of the Old Jewish Quarter in London’s famous East End with magnificent sights and incredible stories of people and places:

• See the legendary Jewish Soup Kitchen, lifesaver to thousands every day; the first Yiddish theatre in England which was the scene of a real life tragedy; hear how the Blitz in World War Two devastated the East End; you will also learn about the infamous Jewish Catwalk where unsuspecting Jewish immigrant girls were lured into a tragic life of prostitution;

• Hear heartwarming and heartbreaking stories, from the hilarious spiel of traders in the famous Petticoat Lane Market to the impoverished immigrants escaping East European oppression (and we touch on other immigrant cultures too);

• Meet colourful characters from the past including the real-life 19th century Fagin; also the secret Jew who became the Queen's physician; and England's chief rabbi who urged Russia: "DON'T let my people go!" You will even learn of the incredible Jewish connection with Jack the Ripper.

Stephen Burstin is an award-winning guide and has been conducting guided tours for 25 years. He specialises in the fascinating history and rich heritage of London's Jewish community and provides an informative and entertaining variety of tours in different districts of the capital while delighting in sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for Jewish London.

All the details, such as the meeting place, will be provided about a week prior to the guided walk to all the participants who have booked.

£15, pre-bookings only. Please note that the tickets are non-refundable.
