LJCC - Why Bother With New Year At All? With Clive Lawton

  • Tuesday 23 September 2014 from 2pm to 4pm
at Ivy House .
£16 pre booked (£20 on the day)
We love to mark the passing of time, whether through birthdays, anniversaries, new year celebrations. Most of us feel it would be impossible not to. But what is this determination to mark time all about – and what do ‘new years’ bring to the story. Most cultures have several each and in this special, Clive returns to one of his main enthusiasm and examines this strange apparently human drive to slice time up and count it.

We will look at a variety of cultures and traditions and consider how people round the world break up time.
